The Far Side has been syndicated to newspapers nationwide for years. While it is sorta kinda a little bit weird, its weirdness has become all too familiar and predictable by now... in other words, "safe". And if there's one thing that deserves a good alteration, it's something "safe". It's too obvious to recaption Far Sides with your own captions... you might be able to come up with something weirder (or certainly more offensive), but such contrast are far, far more stark and effective with things like Family Circus.
