The Real Congregation logoThe Real Congregation is a radio show on Nerdy Show Networks hosted by Marc With a C.  And the show loves, Loves, LOVES The ECC!  So much so that The ECC's All Rights Reserved album got picked as the show's Favorite Record of 2011 -- and -- the ECC song "Pertaining To The Beat" is now the show's new theme song!  Both those announcements can be heard in their 01/17/12 episode, part two of their 2011 countdown.  Thanks guys; we're flattered!  Enough so that we recently recorded an interview with them, which aired on their 01/31/12 episode.

Kooba Radio logoAlso, thanks to all ECC fans who voted for us to be Kooba Radio Band Of The Year!  Voting is closed and Kooba has posted their countdown episode announcing the results.  Who won?  While The ECC didn't win (awww!) your votes pushed us up to finish in third place... a good show!  Considering the tough competition like chap-hop superstar Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer (who won the vote), taking #3 ain't so shabby.

Sound Of Plaid logoThere will be a brief pause...

...mainly to allow TradeMark G. to finish getting his masters degree in Art & Technology, but also to allow Frilly and TradeMark to brainstorm some new directions for The Sound Of Plaid.  The last 4-5 years have produced over 200 great radio shows with a wide variety of themes and guests, and we want to come up with some fresh concepts to liven things up even more.  Expect our broadcasts to resume very late 2014 or early 2015.

Similarly, The Evolution Control Committee's live shows, music, and website need a little freshening up, all of which will have to wait until that almighty thesis is finished in Spring 2015.  It should produce some new concepts and foster some... um... evolution.

Stay tuned.

The Ingenuity Festival Cleveland returns
...and so does The ECC

The Evolution Control Committee has had great times performing at Cleveland's great IngenuityFest art & technology festival in the past (2008, 2009, 2011...) so when their call for artists came out for this year's event we applied, but then wondered -- what haven't we done already?

They've invited us so often before that we've performed every kind of show we've ever made (except for our radio show... hmmm) and we'd rather not repeat ourselves.  Then we remembered our great time earlier this year at Columbus Museum of Art's Connector Series, letting anybody and everybody come up to play with our custom-built music controllers, devices, and toys... ahhhh, good times.  Yes!  That's it!

So this coming weekend The ECC hauls up a full load of tech magic for you, yes YOU, to play with. Ever wanted to try your hand at our amazing VidiMasher 3000 (from our The Wheel Of Mashup shows)?  Or the Thimbletron?  The Object Turntable?  Come to Cleveland and play with these and more!

WHAT: IngenuityFest 2013 Art & Technology Festival
WHEN: This weekend, Saturday and Sunday (we are unlikely to make Friday)
:: Saturday, September 21 - Noon to Midnight (or as long as we can last)
:::: Sunday, September 22 - Noon to 6pm

LA Weekly logoOur recent LA show at the Echoplex with Mutaytor earned a kind review in the LA Weekly blogs.  We were just talking about how the LA show's turnout was a bit disappointing and were wondering whether we really made an impact... it's really gratifying to read this review and know that we actually did.  Many thanks to the author of the review, L. J. Williamson!

WHO: Evolution Control Committee
WHERE: Echoplex
WHEN: 5/13/11

If there was any justice in this world, evolution would never be dismissed by a large portion of the population as "just a theory," and Evolution Control Committee would be more popular than god.
